Tirana and Frankfurt am Main, two cities with different cultural identities, are organizing an artistic exchange in 2024. Gallery70 + Satellite Zone in Tirana and Kunstverein EULENGASSE in Frankfurt are bringing together artists from both cities. These artists, despite their different cultural experiences in Albania and Germany, will explore common themes and share their perspectives. This exchange has the potential to be enriching for both the participating artists and the audiences on both sides.
As part of the Frankfurt Art Experience 2024, EULENGASSE presented the EUROPEAN CITIES ART NETWORK Tirana/Albania & Frankfurt am Main project in September 2024. The program featured two exhibitions with separate openings: »SPECTACULUM« – a solo show by Jon Kraja, and »NO-WHERE, EVERY-WHERE TO GO – Jon Kraja and the young Albanian artists«. The events also included a roundtable discussion on »Public space and urban city centre development – Tirana/Albania and Frankfurt am Main«, along with an artist talk with Jon Kraja. Looking ahead, the exhibition »TIPPING POINT« will be held from October 8th to 15th in Tirana at Gallery70 and GALERIAKALO, focusing on critical moments of social and ecological change. The central theme of the project is »Tipping Point«, which encompasses various aspects of current global crises and changes. It aims to stimulate debate on how different tipping points are interconnected and how they affect life.
