In der Ausstellung »Leben unter uns« werden in den Werken von Gözde Ju implizite Beziehungen sichtbar. Sie berühren ebenso die Wurzeln von Bindungen wie von Identität, Zugehörigkeit, Erinnerung, Geschlecht, Feminismus, Kultur und Nostalgie. Bedingt durch die hegemoniale Zerstörung von Kulturen, sind diese stillen familiären Bindungen ebenso wie auch so kulturelle Traditionen wie etwa das kunstvolle Weben und Nähen feinster Spitzen, die in der Vergangenheit von Frauen als Mitgift oder zur Verschönerung des Hauses hergestellt wurden, im Begriff auszusterben. Sie werden hier transformiert und geraten auf diese Weise zu den Hauptpfeilern dieser Ausstellung. (Melike Bayık)

Gözde Ju’s works in the »Life Among Us« exhibition make implicit relationships visible by touching upon the roots of bonds such as ties, identity, belonging, memory, gender, feminism, culture, and nostalgia. Silent family ties, cultural traditions on the verge of extinction due to the hegemonic destruction of cultures, and the delicate lace intricately woven and sewn by women in the past as dowry or objects beautifying the home are transformed into the main pillars of this exhibition. Ju often combines disciplines such as sewing, embroidery, video, found objects, and photography in her productions, weaving hidden networks with an oral history or documentary-like approach. The exhibition, focusing on a lost history and migration story with the invisible labor of women in roots, family, migration, and the intertwining of new cultures, indicates an eclectic and pluralistic social structure. Gözde Ju bağlar, kimlik, aidiyet, hafiza, cinsiyet, feminizm, kültür ve nostaljinin köklerine dokunarak üretimlerinde örtük kalan ilişkileri görünür kılıyor. Sessizleşen aile bağları, kültürlerin hegemonik yıkımı ile yok olmaya yüz tutmuş kült gelenekler, zamanında kadınların çeyiz ya da evi güzelleştiren nesneler olarak bir bir incelikle ördüğü, diktiği danteller bu serginin ana payelerinden eserlere dönüşüyor. Ju, üretimlerinde sıklıkla dikiş, nakış, video, buluntu nesne, fotoğraf gibi disiplinlerde üretimler yaparak gizil ağları, sözlü tarih ya da belgeselvari bir yaklaşımla derliyor. Kökler, aile, göç ve kadının görünmez emeği sergide kaybolan bir tarih ve göç hikâyesi ile yeni kültürlerin harmanladığı eklektik ve çoğulcu bir sosyal topluma işaret ediyor. (MB)
