This is a Round Robin

It was probably invented by sailors in the 16th or 17th century. When they made a demand to the captain, they signed it in a round, so it was not possible to pick out the leaders. In the 1980s, archaeologists found two shipwrecks in Gothenburg harbor. One ship was retrieved, it was on its way back from China. The other sank due to a mutiny, it is still down there. The port of Gothenburg was the most important port for Sweden. So let’s talk about the other parts of the world and why Europeans sailed there. Let’s talk about European colonialism and its aftermath to this day.

The curators put together an exhibition with works by artists living in Sweden and Germany. It shows results on everyday experiences and also artistic research. The artists also opened the dialogue in spatial and temporal dimensions. Before SUPERMARKET Independent Art Fair they held online conversations on the topics of the Round Robin. During the fair they will have conversations with artists at the booth, online, and with the audience and they will continue the conversations after the SUPERMARKET 2021 ends.
